A Preserved Caboose

Green Bay & Western 605

Hi Folks...

It was originally Green Bay & Western (GB&W) #605 sold to the Copper Range RR (COPR) in the mid 1960's... And when the COPR (Houghton, MI) shut down in 1972 Dr. Sabin of Marquette, MI purchased it and moved it to his property along Lake Superior at Big Bay, MI (just Northwest of Marquette off the old LS&I/ M&HM line)... Last I heard it is still for sale... GB&W removed the earlier Cupola and installed metal Bay Windows along with a steel underframe on this wood sheathed caboose in 1938... COPR retained the GB&W Road Number (605) and paint... And its current appearance is not much different than it was prior to WWII...
