Sitting in the SW corner of the junction of Highway 21 and Granada Drive Hillsboro, MO is this center cupola wood caboose.
I was told that it was originally owned by Judge Herbert K Moss, "one fine man".
It has M&O on the trucks.
Moved to Maya Cafe, Maplewood MO in 2005.

The wife and I were pleasently surprised to find this setting
for MP 12231 in Marble Hill, Missouri one Sunday afternoon in 2001. After taking several photos of the caboose, we ate at a fine diner just across the street. The depot sat in the area where the car lot is at. While still being an Extended Vision caboose, it's body length is different than most on this site with the cupola moved pretty much to the center and it has end windows. A feature I wasn't aware of on any MP cabooses having.
That's because this isn't a MP caboose. It is BN 12231 caboose from Brewer, Missouri. Nice paint job though.

I want to thank Mr. Earl Vogel for sending me this note on the Marble Hill Caboose. The decals we got from Mr. Laquet were scanned from info sent by Jerry Howe (MPHS). I think Mr. Laquet has the "Eagle" designs in addition to the "Buzzsaw" emblems we used on the sides and ends of our caboose. They were extremely easy to work with. The 4ft. diameter "buzzsaw" was in two halves & easy to maneuver in position.
Our Caboose was retired from Sikeston, MO. and purchased by D & H antiques of Brewer MO. where it stayed till 1998. The original BN 12231 was built by The Pacific Car & Foundry Co. in July of 1978. It was one of a lot of 75 cabooses built for BN. This brought the total number of cabooses to 1275 on the BN line. The original cost was $48,700.00 and the weight was 52770 pounds.
I don't know if you have seen the "Park Benches" we have added to our RR Park in Marble Hill. They were built entirely from Rail car components. A wheel and axel assembly has welded to two hopper sections which make 'back to back' seats. On the bottom of each wheel has been welded a 'Flat Pin' normally used on the coupler. These "Benches" really add to the Railroad theme of our Park. They were made and donated to us by 'American Railcar Industries' (ARI) of Jackson, MO. I understand they will build these for anyone for about $700 each (NOTE: your price may vary). I'm enclosing a photo of the original BN 12231, before we moved it from Brewer.
If I can help any, let me know, Earl
