To the Doniphan Branch Railway

Chicago & Eastern Illinois 31

a C&EI Bay Window Welded (BWW) caboose.
Larry Platt caught up with C&EI 31 in the summer of 2003.
During the absorption and subsequent breakup of the C&EI between the MP and L&N railroads, this series of cabooses were assigned the MP numbers 13946-13951 but they were never used.   C&EI 31 would have received MP number 13950.   Instead, they were transferred to the L&N series number 985-990.   The MP did keep some very similar C&EI cabooses.   Almost MP but not quite.
