Preserved Cabooses

In Texas

If you are wondering how to set up the track then this is a pretty good example.   You see that there is crushed rock below the ties and it extends at a slope away from the track.   The only thing that might make it a little better from a maintainence standpoint is to put a barrier under the rock to keep grass from growing up through it.   If you have this in a yard then a border around the bottom would help retain the rock from getting into the yard and give a nice edge to it.   One last thing, if you want this to look about perfect then the shoulder of the rock would be out from the tie 1 to 2 feet before starting the taper.

While shooting the Missouri Pacific caboose in Shepherd I stumbled upon this Southern Pacific caboose less than 100 yards from the park there.   It is privately held and is being set up near a museum.

Above a shot of the two Rock Island cabooses that are in Killeen, Texas.   Do you know the numbers for these?
